    North Marden

St Mary, North Marden is a single cell Norman church, consisting of an undivided nave and chancel. The chancel has a semi-circular (apsidal) end, which is one of only six chancels in small English churches. The principal feature of the church is the elaborate Norman south doorway. It is made from the same Caen stone as Chichester Cathedral, believed to have been shipped across the channel to Chichester and then transported by packhorse to North Marden. The church is delightfully simple and has no electricity. It is Grade 1 listed.

Sadly there is no longer a regular family service at this church. This has moved to Forestside on the 1st Sunday of each month from 11.00.
